Simfiles
1. Before you can do anything, you need to download Stepmania. You can do that by going here. You can download Stepmania for Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux. I use Windows, so these directions might not be useful for Mac OS X or Linux users. Make sure to leave an icon for the game on your desktop.
2. Now that you have Stepmania, find the icon on your computer that says "My Computer". Now, click the Local Disk (C:) icon. Next, you should see a bunch of folders. Click the one that says Program Files. Then, find the folder that says Stepmania. Click that, and you should see more folders. Click the one that says Songs. It should have nothing in it, but a readme thing. Minimize that folder because you will be coming back to it.
3. The first thing you need before you can download simfiles is WinZip. You can get it by clicking here. Make sure that you set it to WinZip Wizard and not Classic. Note: When you click on WinZip, and a thing says that you need to buy WinZip, click the Use Evaluation Version button. If you click the buy now button, then you are wasting your money. It works just fine with the Evaluation Version.
4. Now that you have WinZip, you can go here to get direct downloads from most of the DDR versions.
5. Click whichever download you want, and on the next page, there should be a green arrow, that says download now. Click that, and then it will ask you where you want to save it. I think it would be easiest to put it in your desktop.
6. Now, that you downloaded one of the simfiles, you should see an icon that sort of looks like the WinZip icon. Right click it. You should see a list of options. Click the one that says Extract to Desktop. It won't say it in those exact words, but it will have a link and the word desktop will be in it. You want to click that one.
7. Now, you should see a folder. Double click on that folder. There might be another folder that says the same thing on it. If there is, then double click on that folder, and drag it out of the other folder. Drag the other one in the recycle bin because you don't need it. Once you double click that folder, you should see a bunch of song names. Those are your songs. Maximize the folder that says Songs on it. Drag the folder with the name of the simfile on it into your songs folder. Then, click on the Stepmania icon that gets you into the game. Set it up the way that you want to, and then there should be a list of songs. If a list of songs appears, then you have successfully downloaded the simfile. If not, then look at each step carefully to see what you did wrong.
8. Congratulations! You have just successfully downloaded a simfile! Give yourself a pat on the back! :)
